Serious Organised Crime & Community Resilience Research

Combating serious organised crime (SOC) is a top priority for the East Midlands police region. A team of policing professionals and academics have been working together to explore various aspects of SOC to identify key themes that can be progressed.

Here is one update report – on community resilience – that seeks to strengthen communities in order to reduce the vulnerability that organised crime groups can feed off and exploit.

Further reports will be shared in due course, with a view to both update and invite more involvement from policing professionals and academics in order to build the very best team to work on this vital topic.

The longer term goal is for the academic leads at De Montfort University to bid for external research funding, with EMPAC as a bidding partner, to bring investment development into the East Midlands to further demonstrate its reputation as the most progressive policing region in the country.

If you feel you have some expertise or insight to contribute to this ongoing and vitally important collaborative enterprise, hosted at De Montfort University, Leicester, then get in touch with Professor Dave Walsh at: – dave.walsh@dmu.ac.uk.
